I think we should declare Goodison a independent state..make our own laws
The biggest problem over the next 2-3 years will the value of the pound and foreign investment falling in the UK. If (and it's a big 'if') our new government have anything about them, they'll put off invoking article 50 and starting exit negotiations until well in to next year. As a country, we just no longer have the expertise to deal with such huge negotiations with the EU over trade and freedom of movement (and simultaneous negotiations with non-EU countries). The civil service will likely be starting a massive recruitment drive for trade and legal experts and coming up with their negotiating strategies. Hopefully they started contingency planning before the referendum, but it'll still be a massive task. Also, putting off our official notification of exit will make the EU more nervous about other members jumping ship, putting us in to a stronger negotiating position.
The uncertainty this limbo period will create will put the pound and euro in to free-fall. Hopefully, we'll join the EEA as an interim measure (retain full access to the common market and full freedom of movement) while negotiating a more comfortable, wider-ranging deal on both sides for the long term. Alternatively, we could end up with closet-remainer Boris in charge (using the referendum purely as a way of getting in to number 10), quickly invoking article 50 and after a short, EU-weighted negotiation, accepting associate member status - leaving us worse off than we are now.
Short to medium term, we'll still be able to buy players from the EU as we do now, the cost will probably go up because of the comparative weakness of the pound, and players may find England to be a less-desirable destination due to uncertainty. Hopefully we finalise a mutually-beneficial, tailored deal within the decade, but it's all up in the air because it is so complex, and the EU is getting more and more unstable by the day.
Totally correct. If all the soothsayers were so good at foretelling what the future will bring, then how come none of them have been able to predict the lottery numbers. Then, when they win millions, they won't need to worry about the little old pound sterling ever again.Short version; The sky is falling
