Any followers of Irish footy?
Yep, the "irish league" is the one in the north.
Because they got hounded out of the northern league with sectarianism. Same as Belfast Celtic, I supposeHow come Derry City play in LOI, then?
Derry is in the north.
But Cliftonville do all right and they are the "Catholic" team in Belfast.
They won the Irish League last season and played Celtic in the CL qualifier.
How come Derry City play in LOI, then?
Derry is in the north.
They attract Nationalists, yes. There's usually trouble when they play Linfield. I dont think they have the same connection with that community than more obvious clubs set up along ethnic lines though, like Belfast Celtic/Donegal Celtic.
Now you're confusing me, Dave.
Donegal Celtic in the northern league?
(although Donegal is the most northerly county in Ireland and to say it is in "southern" Ireland is paracoxical)
The only team in Donegal I know off is Finn Harps....and I was there when we played them in the UEFA CUP in '78 or '79
I'm sure Andy King scored a couple.
