League Cup Final

Yeah recent history of us playing similar League 2 opposition has you right eh, 2-0 up at HT & then holding on for grim death, oh wait 3 second half goals vs Cheltenham you say........I give up.

2-1 up vs oldham, try and hold on instead of killing the game off. i know you're right, but i was on about on a big occasion like a wembley final. i almost guarantee we wouldn't have done that. During all the really big games under moyes (not the ones where we're underdogs and not expected to win i.e. home vs chelsea or man utd)

FA Cup Final (didn't turn up), FA Cup Semi vs Man Utd Reserves (didn't turn up), FA Cup Semi vs Liverpool (didn't turn up), Away legs at Lisbon and Fiorentina (didn't turn up) Away matches against any of the big 4 - won 0 from 48 and haven't deserved to win any. Away Derbies (have barely turned up at any).

Dyer made an absolute show of himself. If I'd have been Laudrup I'd have taken him off after the pen went in. He (Dyer) actually tried to sabotage his own team mate before he took it, all because the crying arse wanted a hat trick.

to be fair to the lad, he was about to score a hat-trick at wembley and the keeper took him out. i think he knew he probably wouldn't get another chance. As soon as De Guzman scored he ran up to him shook his hand and gave him a hug.

Not many people get the chance to score a hat-trick at wembley and the game was over as a contest, i would have probably done the same.

Dyer acted unprofessionally but I think anyone would have done the same. It must have been agonising watching the ball trickle past the post after being taken out by the keeper, and they absolutely should have given him the penalty.

He was part of a cup winning team at that moment, he should have been happy enough with that. Even after the match he looked more concerned about not having a hattrick than having a winners medal. I dont pretend to understand that mentality. Team game at the end of the day.

by my recollection, tremmel only touched the ball twice in the whole match after it had touched a bradford player and that was a terrible floated corner which went straight to him and a tame shot which rolled into his hands. Not one goal kick or anything. yet BBC said bradford had 40% possession and 3 shots on target :s

great day out, just wish i could experience it with everton. For anyone who thinks we'd be lost without moyes, when he started swansea were bought for £1, fighting to stay in the football league and fend off liquidation. They know play imo the prettiest football in britain with players half as good as ours and have actually made a profit with regards to player sales this season. Just shows what can be achieved with limited resources - and more importantly a great chairman - we seriously need to hound kenwright out of our club and hopefully that'll be the end to moyes and his dross football we've been playing lately, because we definitely have the players and the squad to play some lovely stuff.

you bet that we wouldn't have gone out in a final and scored 5 no matter who the opposition was. we may have gone in HT 2-0 up and instead tried to hang on onto it, swansea went out and bang 3-0 straight away and game over. Even teams as bad as liverpool have a killer instinct whilst we just try and hold on to a one goal advantage, it's really really poor.

Best post I've read on here for a long, long time.

One of the 150 things we need to do to put the FA Cup back in its place is get rid of the League Cup. Its a dog in the manger. The Cup in the FA Cup. End of story.
