Indeed we would.

I remember going to an away tie to Arsenal circa November 2004.

They put out a reserve side......we played our first XI.

We scored first.....then Arsenal reserves took us apart and scored three or sommat :(

3-1 i think, Arturo Lupoli scored twice? IIRC

I was there too, tough to take but when you compare the teams and the fact we had such a make shift side. Yobo refused to play too didn't he.

Had a [Poor language removed] coleman at left back, gosling at right back, hihbert and distin. My god that was a long 90minutes in the clouds.

I completely agree with you though, FA Cup win all day long, we'd get back into Europe via it as well, same with the League Cup. Why not take it seriously? Could have European football sewn up and take the pressure offf the rest of the season to then challenge for top 4 if you are nearby?

Sporting game was down to Moyes being a total negative dick, had he went out and got an early away goal, we'd have coasted that.

As for the Benfica game, you're absolutely right. That team was littered with talent. Cardozo in particular was in the height of his form, and Saviola was still deadly given the chances. Aimar, Luiz, Ramires, Di Maria, Julio Cesar, Fabio Contraeo and Nuno Gomes, just some of the other players, and we had super right back Seamus Coleman, making a debut at Left back  No wonder we got hammered.

As for the Champions League, i'm sure we'd fare better, it's the holy grail for players, especially ones with Good teams, just not CL Good teams like Everton and Spurs, we'd give it our best undoubtedly, whereas regardless of whether we won against Benfica, we'd probably go through due to AEK and BATE Borisov being woeful. So the pressure was off.

Yeah remember that Khal. The game when a couple of Arsenal youngsters called Fabregas and Van Persie announced themselves. Was that the game where Gary Naysmith scored a superb free kick ?

I think it was one of the Mitchell brothers scored the fred kick, Ed.

We should go for this so we can end our trophy drought.

Also, if we're drawn at home, I'm hoping to make the early round my daughter's first first team game.

The draw is after Donny vs Leeds on the Thursday. Not sure if its seeded or regionalised.

I dont mind the competition. However i do hate it when you travel 400 miles, the match goes to extra time and penalties and then you lose. Then you play chelsea away on a saturday lunchtime.

Eurgh...Brentford was one of the most horrible days of my life. I was working in home care then, had asked for the afternoon and evening off and they refused. Thankfully a mate did me a swap for the afternoon onwards. So I was up at 6, had calls from 7am until 1pm, zoomed home to get changed and pick my dad up, drove to Watford for the train to the game, obviously we lost on pens, got the very last train out of Euston back to Watford at around midnight, then had the drive home, and got into bed about 4am. Back up at 6 for a 15 and a half hour shift...I hate Brentford...every mad midweek football away day has been a walk in the park compared to that. Athens and back in a day, getting stuck in 2 sets of roadworks on the way back from Swansea in the Cup last season and taking about 6-7 hours to get home, a ridiculous 3 hour detoru on the way back from Luton, being awake for around 30 hours for Young Boys away, being in work the morning after the West Ham cup replay, everything pales into insignificance to Brentford.

Ive already accepted we will never win this Cup. We are just utterly cursed in it. Our record of losing to lower league sides, the only side ever to lose the final after a replay twice, and the only side to lose a final after 2 replays, the fact we lost to Grimsby when we won or got to the final of everything else in 84/85, it will just never happen. So if you're asking me to pick who we will lose to in embarrassing circumstances this season, I want Barnet away, as its the only ground Im missing to complete the 92 again, so better to do it with us than have to go there at random!

I remember going to Bristol city away on a Tuesday night years ago. We won on pens but it was a horrible journey and horrible fans they have.

Big dunc and Nick Chadwick up front if I remember lol

It will definitely be seeded by a pre-defined draw, i.e. They'll draw the unseeded teams out before the draw, then draw out the seeded teams. Yeovil away will do ;)!
