How about league based on goals scored (not how many you let in).

In theory it's a better system though, less arbitrary than 3 points (why not 2 or 4). Also if you're 3 down with ten minutes left you still have something to play for.

In practice I suspect, like others a lot of defensive tactics + it'd be weird

If a team wins 30 games out of 38 and scores 60 goals do they deserve to win the league more or less than a team who wins 24 games but scores 61 goals ?
