not every cyclist is the same build

there are mesomorphs, ectomorphs etc...

froome's body type may make him naturally far better at climbing than everyone else and with training and honing his skills to perfection then no doubt he will be a machine.

also science has developed far more than 10 years ago, nutrition and diet has improved tenfold, athletes know what foods and drinks can do to their body and elevate their performances.

Froome is a skinny bloke, but there's nothing to suggest he's that thin un-naturally. I'm around 6% body fat so I'm sure a pro athlete could easily get a wee bit lower than that. Remember Wiggins was 4% when he won. When you get your food sorted out down to the smallest detail it shouldn't be hard to be healthy.

Froome rocketed away from Wiggins on a couple of climbs last year - he is a more natural climber than Wiggins by comparrison, yet Wiggins got the win. What will be telling is how far from the top Froome is in the individual time trial - because he is not the best time trialer in the world.
And that Columbian rider, shades of Riccardo Ricco much.

I would say the whole tour, rather than just the individual TT. If Froome is that dominant in a couple of weeks time then one would imagine everyone will assume he is on the juice and treat him accordingly.

Who's going to beat him though? Remember in the 2011 Vuelta, Froome's breakthrough Grand Tour, he beat Wiggins in the time trial, so he's certainly no slouch against the clock, and of course he was 3rd in the Olympic TT.

Factor in that Wiggins and Cancellara aren't here, so that's two TT'ers that could beat him out of the equation. Tony Martin could give him a run for his money but he crashed a few days ago so it remains to be seen how badly that's taken it out of him.

It wouldn't surprise me whatsoever if Froome won the time trial here. On past form he certainly could do, maybe even should do, and I'm not sure doing so would be evidence that he's on the juice.

They could be doping but you cant really compare times up a climb from one year to the next, there are too many variables, just after a quick search you can see the last time they finished up the Ax 3 Domaines in 2005 the stage was 25.5km longer than yesterday.

I loved it when everybody said Armstrong wasnt a juice head.

Look how that ended up.

Serious question, has a Tour de Farce winner ever kept his title or have they had them all stripped for being pyar smackheads.

It is hard. I sometimes wonder just how much improvement is possible. I mean as a relatively untrained bloke, I knock around 10% off my times each year as I get better. I know as you reach the top the margins of improvement are smaller, but with the training and general preperation that goes on, they must see some improvements or there's no point doing it, so how much can we realistically expect athletes to improve each year through natural means?

You ever tried riding some of the routes they do each day Goat?

Armstrong did cheat, and by all accounts he wasn't a very nice person, but you still can't get away from the fact he recovered from cancer and got back into one of the toughest sports the world has to offer. That's a heck of a lot more than 99% of the population have done.

You should give it a go. You'll be a champ in no time. You can probably kick a ball as well so if you try now you could make a late run for the World Cup squad. Be like a modern day Ian Botham.

As with anything, I have a much greater appreciation for what professionals do after I've given it a go.

Golf? Unreal what those players can do with a golf club and the types of shots they can hit. Didn't really realized that until I started to play.

Cycling? Didn't really pay much attention until I started riding now I try to catch what I can on TV. The pace that they ride at is unbelievable and the fitness levels they have are off the charts.
