To be fair, your point about net spending is a nonsense. You cant shift the goalposts by throwing all costs of a deal into the pot. Where would that leave our calculations vis-a-vis other clubs which we're not familiar with?

All clubs incur costs due to contracts, so the traditional way of comparing the ambitions of clubs is by calculating the difference between incomongs/outgoings.

I heard something from someone connected to MLS. They said Arsenal and Everton put in claims for an MLS player and both were rejected. Any ideas who he might be talking about. My first thought was landon donovan but I don't think Everton would be willing to spend that much for Landon.
