The Esk

Player Valuation: £70m
Anyone else enjoy this?

In the early 70's I remember watching this every year with my Grandfather, he was a boiler-maker at Camell Lairds, yet loved the last night - he used to make everyone stand up for Land of Hope & Glory (Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance, March no. 1) and say this should be the National Anthem!

Evening ends on the traditional high note - I always think of my Grandfather on this night, he was as I have mentioned previously a very great Evertonian, we reckon he attended more than 700 matches at Goodison plus many more in the North West and trips to Wembley in '33, '66 and '68.....

I absolutely love the end, my Grandad was of a similar vein to yours Mr Esk, proud to be English when it didn't mean you were in the EDL. Fantastic songs. He always thought (and I do too) that Jerusalem should be our national anthem, it was sung at his funeral, always reminds me of him.

Surprised davek and Chico haven't murdered this thread by now
