Is this where he asked Michael Howard the same question over and over 15 times and still didn't get an answer?

I'm rapidly losing patience with politicians.

that's why I don't hate Nigel Farage the guys an idiot but you can atleast get an answer out of him, not that i would ever vote for him like his view on climate change is that of a Ostrich with his head in the sand, nevermind the rest of his policies

In terms of foreign policy, almost certainly. In terms of domestic pitics, they will be seen as a necessary break from Monetarism and Conservatism, a well meaning Government but flawed not in terms of ideology but application.
There was no break. The policies were continued with piecemeal elements used to pacify the lefties and create an illusion.
Kinnock had overseen the disbanding of a lot of labour principles and what was created was a sort of diet SDP. Bedding in with Murdoch proved that new labour would do anything to get elected, not for representation, but for power alone, proven by the subsequent egos and arrogance so subtely displayed in the foreign policy.
Behaving like conservatives but calling yourselves new labour was a con. If it walks like a tory and talks like a tory.....

Before Mandelson, Labour were idealists without substance, summed up perfectly by Kinnock. The move to a centre-left position by New Labour was absolutely necessary. Rigidly sticking by trade union policies and ignoring the real world would have been far more stupid and arrogant than attempting to reinvigorate the position of the party and bring it to relevance.

New Labour failed due to its' execution by increasingly arrogant and inept men, but it was the right idea at the time.
So why didn't they have the courage of their conviction and create an alternative to Labour, as opposed to a coup d'etat used to make misrepresentations?
Mainly because the SDP had been such a mess, but that is where Mandelson et al belonged.

Flip flopping politicos changing stance dependant upon how the media informed the public mind, with no conviction in sight, no principles to be had. That is Darth Peter's legacy.
