Laptop Water Damage

Came back from the NFL in london to find my little cousin has spilled orange juice on my laptop.

Ive been really lucky in that the mother board seems fine but the keyboard and mouse arent working. Well the mouse works fine on the windows login screen but after that nothing. The keyboard is just typing about 5 random letters & numbers everytime i push a button.

Laptop is working fine via usb Keyboard and mouse but obviously thats not ideal.

any help/pointers would be appriciated

Put it in a bag of rice overnight mate.

If you put it on an hours spin in the tumble dryer that should fix it, alternatively if you defrost it in the microwave for half an hour that also works.

qtips, distilled water (heated to near boiling) and a lot of time...and that's assuming you can get it apart without hassle. one of the worst things you could spill in it...nice one.

This. Coke is also awful.

Alcohol (ethyl alcohol I mean... or whiskey) instead of water also works, in fact it works better imo. Your laptop kinda smells of booze afterwards, but it works, and that's the main thing, right?

got the mouse pad working now, if i take it to a repair man can they just replace the keyboard?

I can vouch for the Rice remedy, it has worked for me with a mobile phone and a Lap-top. Well I tell a slight lie, the lap-top went on the blink 2 weeks later but still worth a try.
