Everton cancel FC Krasnodar Europa League supporters' trip due to lack of interest

The Toffees have pulled the plug on a day-trip package to group-phase tie in Russia next month as not enough fans wanted to make the 8,000-mile journey
Everton have cancelled a Europa League supporters' trip after a lack of interest.

The Toffees were drawn out the hat in Group H to ace, among others, FC Krasnodar - which means a daunting 4,000-plus mile trip into the heart of Russia.

And with travel arrangements particularly difficult the club, who pride themselves with the motto 'We go the game', have withdrawn the offer of a day trip package after numbers failed to reach minimum requirements.

An Everton spokesman said: "It is with regret we have had to cancel the trip. Any supporter who had applied will be written to directly to inform them that their application has failed.

"Please do note that no monies will be taken from your account."

Day-trip packages, which are being offered in association with Everton's travel partners Thomas Cook, for the other two away games in the group - against Lille in northern France and Germany's Wolfsburg - are going ahead as planned.

bad for anyone that forked out for a visa, many made their own arrangements so club should get them a ticket in my opinion if they want one.

Why couldn't the club have used some of the 'Away Fan Initiative Money' to subsidise the trip to Krasnador?

If it had been the same price as Wolfsburg, loads would have gone.

Who wants to spend the price of a weeks holiday in Spain for a day trip to a war zone 8000 miles away?

I looked at flights and it would cost for me and my lady around €1500. Plus match tickets and hotel then.

Considering I spent two grand on 15 days in South Africa 2010, taking in 5 matches (including our 4-1 hammering of England), there's no chance I'm spending almost the same amount just for this.

Well in the blues who do make it, much respect!

They handed it over to Thomas Cook who seek to make a profit out of Travelling Fans, I'm sure that if they got Ryanair or Easyjet to sort it then the price would be a hell of a lot less.
