Yep, nailed it. Wonderful smoke screen and scapegoat.

I want Cook the opener back, not the captain, he could be an all time great, he's half way there. The problem is who will be the next captain? No candidates in that team, apart from KP. Broad is too hot headed, Bell in his own shell, it's a big problem.

agreed. broad is no way captain material btw, it's just all a bit odd. Anderson is the only one I can think of as potential, but that would be a stop-gap appointment for a couple of years. maybe cook could learn a few things from him and come back stronger then ever.

become pretty bored with England last couple of years, they play boring cricket with negative team selections by the ECB and poor decisions after poor decisions. i'm going to find it very hard to give a damn if they hire giles. terrible player (internationally) and England have gone backwards under him in ODI's, he's also boring as hell. can't imagine him playing an exciting brand of cricket that we should be producing with quite a few good up and coming youngsters.

this basically just isnt true, a media myth and a lazy one at that, he has bailed england out plenty of times, and unlike upper class yes men like cook, he has made plenty of centuries when he has been the only one to get 3 figures, not just when its easy and the teams on top. No way should a player as talented as KP be having his test career cut short because our crap captain doesn't like him, the finest england batsman I've ever watched, should be retiring with 10,000 runs and plenty of slaps on the back, not being told 'we dont like you here, go away and don't come back', by a bunch of upper class chinless [Poor language removed]

Agreed. With the general trend of rolling over to Johnson or blocking to score at 0.001 runs per over against top bowlers like Lyon, Pietersen probably thought - What's the point? If I block for 10 overs I'll probably be left high and dry anyway.

Cook getting out wafting outside off isn't any better than Pietersen getting caught in the deep.

spot on mate, and now the ECB and catain adolf cook refuse to explain the situation, why? because they have nothing to pin on KP this winter, even Swann admitted he hasnt done anything wrong, I've got tickets for trent bridge in the summer, and I'd like to know why the player I was looking forward to watching the most isn't allowed to be selected, I remember robin smith being treated as badly by the ECB
