Yeah, this.

The way middling prem teams crap out of the cups is disgraceful.

The big teams at least have other priorities, what are the likes of villa and newcastle ever going to do that outweighs a cup run?

when you have an idiot like pardew whoo actually plays your second team when you actually get into europe, everything's pointless.

newcastle having bigger priorities than europa league haha, pardew's such a melon.

Why does a Geordie even have an account on this forum to view this thread lol

I don't know why everyone got so wound up. I doubt he actually reckons Newcastle are actually a better team than Everton. He was just on a rant after a frustrating result.

Clearly Everton are the more successful club by some margin, which is personally what I'd say determines the size of your club. Home attendances don't mean much really imo. For all their selling out of a 50k seater, they bring [Poor language removed] all to Goodison which suggests their hardcore of travelling support as a proportion of their home support is miniscule compared to ours. Sunderland also get a higher gate than us at the SoL. Are they a bigger club than us?

I don't think it'd be having a go to suggest they're certainly a smaller club in terms of everything bar home attendance. Considering our successful neighbours and the fact that they're a one club city, if their attendances and big ground are all they can base their claims to being bigger on, I think they do a excelent job of reinforcing the tag given to them in the title of this thread.

Agreed. I don't know what the hell Lambert's playing at, delivered a woeful season for the poor Villa fans and now comes out with all this "I can't be arsed with the FA Cup" boll*cks. I think he may well be out of a job before season's end.

i still think he's a good manager, would have seriously tipped him to come here, but his first season at villa made me sceptical. No idea what he's doing there, but he'll have a good career i think.

to summarise. We've won the league 9 times been runners up 7 times. They've won the league 4 times and been runners up twice.
We have 5 FA Cups to their 6 FA Cups. However the last time they won a trophy was the Fairs Cup in 69. We won the league in 87 and the FA Cup in 95. We were formed in 1878 and have been relegated twice, as we have the record for the most seasons in the top flight with 110 years. They were formed in 1892 been in the top division for 82 seasons but have had 5 relegations and have spent 20+ seasons out of the Old First Div and Prem compared to our four. Also despite their bigger stadium we have a higher max attendance, where we managed to fit 78000 as opposed to their 68000. This despite us being the smaller club in a two club city as opposed to them in their one club city.

Mad the way ten years under moyes and his constant "we have no money" quotes have changed peoples perceptions of this club.

At the end of the day we have won more titles than most, more fa cups than most and have a european trophy to boast about. Plus we are one of the oldest clubs in the country.

Bout time we had a manager that rammed that home (looks like we do with martinez actually) rather than using the money excuse to cover his own back.
