The fine was too small, should have been in the four figures. Does no one think of the potential calamitous accident that could have happened leaving some one dead or badly injured.

In fact some people should go back and read the Highway Code you are supposed to stop on amber unless it is dangerous to do so.

Been fined for jumping a red light on Queens Drive back in January. £145 fine, plus prosecution costs of £85 and a £20 victim surcharge.

Told you all he was quick.

An Everton FC footballer has been fined £240 for jumping a red light in Liverpool.

Wirral magistrates’ court issued the fine after Arouna Kone wrote saying he would be unable to attend the hearing in Birkenhead.

In a letter to the court the Ivory Coast international, of Great Sankey in Warrington, had said he was away and asked for another hearing in July and asked for an interpreter to be present.

He said in his letter, read out to the court: "I recognise I am guilty."

But chair of the magistrates bench, Mrs Eadsforth, said the matter could be dealt with in Kone's absence.

Prosecutor Matt Routly told the court Kone had been seen in a Mercedes ML250 AMG Sport Bluetec at 2.28pm on January 11 this year passing a red light at the junction of Queens Drive and Millbank.

Mr Routly said: "He failed to comply with the traffic signal."

Earlier this month the ECHO reported that Kone has cancelled his summer holidays as part of a bid to revive his faltering Blues career.

Kone, who made only six appearances last term during an injury-ravaged debut campaign at Everton, said: “I’m going to remain here and work really hard over the summer to be ready and hit the ground running in July.”

The magistrates fined Kone £145, plus prosecution costs of £85 and A £20 victim surcharge.
Things like this that should depend on your earnings.

What the hell does he care about a few hundred quid. lol

The Swiss have it spot on. 240 is about 15 percent of a monthly wage of somebody earning 30k a year.

For somebody earning a million and a half a year it ought to be around 10/15 grand fine, not two hundred quid ffs.

I don't understand all the stick kone gets tbh. The fact bobby brought in lakaku showed kone was an option NOT our main striker. He was good at Wigan, and knows bobby's system already.

Hardly his fault he got injured after 1 bad game. If he'd had a stormer would people be claiming top 4 is ours once he returns?

He'll be a good squad member I have no doubt. He was a big loss last season, would of scored a few and allowed lakaku some vital rest around Xmas.

I'm team Kone also!!
Look, sorry mate for being anal but his name is LUKAKU....... Not Lakaku or LUKAKA or anything else.... I apologise again mate , it's just something which bugs me..... Stupid I know but I have to be true to myself.

Carry on.
