In 1974 my Grandad (Dad's Dad) died, 1975 Sept I was born, 1975 October my Gran (Dad's Mum) died.

I have now come into possession a Kodak Brownie 8-58 Projector and various film reels. It was my Grandad's and has been in a loft for 35 years. The motor works, the lamp works. I just have no clue how to use it, plus the Spool that the reel rolls onto is damaged (Warped).

Anybody know anything about this kind of thing? Have any kind of hints? I have done Google and I just get stuff about eBay and Manuals online (which there are none).

I really want to see my Grandad and Grandma on these old films.

Any help would be really appreciated.

This is what it looks like by the way.

alright mate,

i did a double google, but indeed there is no manuals available, it seems there are a lot of people after this manual.

If it was me, I'd contact a projector repair company and just ask them in a cunning way...

or find out how to contact Kodak Brownie...wiki has some info...

another option is the 8mm film may work on another projector if the spool is warped.

or check up the basics on loading projectors, but there would be an element of risk to this as back when this was made it was probably for specialist / professionals or those home users in the know.

Quite suprised there is no manual with the product, and also no manual on the interweb...

Well I refuse to pay for a manual, especially as I can find out loads of stuff about all kinds of things for free on the Internet. I may well just take the film to someone who can convert it to Digital for me.

There is a great football mind on this forum name of Brownie. I will think this device name for his honour and will know how work this device.
