Knife to a Gunfight Syndrome

is it acceptable for Everton to play for the draw at so called top teams?"

I'd be happy to always get a point away at Spurs, United, City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal as long as we were more ambitious in the games we had a better chance of winning

That kind of thinking will see us always striving merely to be best of the rest.

I mean, EFC have not won at the pit this century.

How can you be happy to go there and always get a point? I would rather we won one and lost two rather than draw there three years in a row.

We need to be winning the big away matches, even every now and again,

Regarding Jose's tactics last night, that was a world away from what we witnessed on Saturday.

United looked far more in control and comfortable than we did on Saturday.

At no time did the RS threaten to overrun them.....on Saturday every time City attacked, which was pretty much the whole game, we were hiding behind our chairs because it always looked like the roof was about to cave in.

And it did cave in twice....only for Stek to save the day on both occasions.

On top of all of that he had to save two penalties.

And that would be perfectly valid

Lots of hand-wringing yesterday about our approach at City - Mourinho is largely receiving praise today for his pragmatic approach at Anfield.

And the difference is?

No difference - Mourinho has done it with great success at the likes of Chelsea, Inter, Real Madrid (!) and now United. If your chances of winning a game are on the small side, there is no shame in trying to get a point from the game.

This is it for me - you play each game in an individual manner, instead of sticking to an approach that your players might not be suitable for

Martinez always tried to play football despite our limitations, we saw what happened there defensively. Moyes a lot of the time played with 9 men behind the ball after we went 1-0 up at home against a relegation team. At least our manager changes the approach for the game now.

I agree with you to an extent but Stek never touched the ball until the first pen.

As you said though last night was completely different. United are being done an injustice today as they dominated the first half completely (definitely the first 35 mins) despite not creating much and I can't really see what Liverpool did different in the 2nd half to what United did in the first. They never created much in the 2nd half either.

I see a few people mention we were saved by the keeper there etc. That's what having a world class keeper is about. You need them to push to the next level. We are so use to Howard we forgot keepers win you points. Look at DeGea for United he pulls of worldies every game. Nobody saying he's carrying United. He was the difference in a few games v us. A top keeper should always be number one priority if you want to win things.

Said it yesterday but I find it comical that Mourinho is being praised for setting up for a draw at Liverpool and our fans are having a go at Koeman for doing it against an arguably much better team.
