So out trail running last week and managed to hyper extend my knee coming down a slope. Hurt like crazy, but managed to hobble back to car and drive home. Stuck an ice pack on it, couple of brufen and a pint of guiness and left it for 24 hours.

My knee is now swollen to like twice its size, stiff, sore and I cant bend it properly, also when I try and walk on it when my leg straightens I get this really sharp pain at the front of my kneecap like its bone rubbing on bone.

Hurts at the back of the knee also.

Anybody got experience of knee ligament damage and if so how did you get it sorted?

Sounds like you’ve stretched your ACL.

If you try and go through your GP, it’ll be better before you get to see a physio.

Aye - I've tried that route, getting nowhere and even if I see a GP it will be months before I can get an MRI. Might have a think about going private

Most have a back log of about 12-18 mths due to the pandemic.

There’s a good one in Woolton village, that I know club runners use, if that’s anywhere near you ?

I’m thinking that I have to get this properly scanned and diagnosed. I’ve had problems with the same knee for a while now due to an older injury so maybe my knee is well and truly stuffed.
I did similar a few years back. Went to one of those NHS drop in Centres and they jiggled the knee about a bit and came to the conclusion it was strained ligaments. No scan, x-ray or anything. Just told me to rest it and it did go away after a couple of weeks

Sounds good. Did you have the sharp pain thing at the front of the knee like bone moving on bone?
