Anyone who honestly believes Tesco is going to be for Kirkby is either an idiot or has never visited the place.

Or, more likely, is a "honest, hardworking shopkeeper being put out of business".

Trust me - the town centre of Kirkby utterly deserve to be put out of business. It's not their own fault exactly, but the place is a hellhole in terms of shopping options and I haven't seen one small business in Kirkby show an ounce of effort to improve in a good 15 years.

I'll have you know the Golden Eagle gives the Burj Al Khaleef a run for it's money in terms of luxury. Rustic broken mirrors and sinks, dirty linen and friendly bed bugs, Trip Advisor Rating 4/5.

i have seen kirkby town center, and while its true refurbishment is long overdue, becoming totally dependant on a single company may not be the best idea, i dont live there. but i feel very uneasy in the scale and and lack of competition tesco will face.
