Kindle Fire HD

I've been thinking of getting the Nexus 7 for a while now. Not that I would have any use for it but it seems like it's good value for money.

We bought my mum the Nexus 7 due to her having difficulty going on the net because of arthritis in her hands she uses one of those pen things with the touch screen and it's been brilliant. Puts on YouTube, reads books through the kindle app, listens to music etc.

Only con is the Iplayer app doesn't work and a few others. There is still lots that do.

I don't know much about the new kindle fire only what I have read.

We are partial to the Kindle Fire in my house. We got one of the originals and I rooted it and put Ice Cream Sandwich (MIUI) and then Jelly Bean (AOSP) on it. It has reinvigorated it. Amazon proclaimed the Kindle Fire HD 'unhackable' and less than a day later it was hacked and root obtained.

It is a very competent tablet, and in stock form is geared to delivering Amazon content to you. The only way to get the true tablet experience is to root it and flash a custom ROM. And for doing that, the Nexus 7 is better. And it has the specs as well.

For me, the Nexus 7 would be my 7" tablet of choice.

Got my Kindle Fire HD today- pretty ace. The picture and sound quality are really good and books download in seconds. Only complaint I would have so far is that the apps are a bit cack if you are used to Apple
