To continue our look at great Everton players of days gone by to diffuse and distract from the lack of managerial action, following on from Big's Nev and Joe, I though this weekend we could look at one of the best left footers ever.

Signing from the other lot, he became pivotal in the greatest side I've ever seen in the flesh. We are all aware of the disallowed free kick which he promptly retook and slotted in the opposite corner.

He has overcome ill health and still does a smashing job at the club to this day with the youth. Hopefully he'll be a familiar face around the club for years to come, and if not (slams fist on table) why not?!?!

Kevin Sheedy, we salute you......

RS lad I shared house with at uni was fuming when we signed him !! Was an absolutely cracking player. A slow start to his Everton career iirc because he lacked pace and did not put his foot in much but was so influential in the mid 80s side. Best 3 sheedy moments.....
Twice taken free kick versus Ipswich in cup QF,
Equaliser in semi vs Luton
Free kick at Anfield and flicking the Vs at the Kop.......we all dream of doing that right???

I know some older dude who is a season ticket holder Since 70s. He said there was always some guy behind him when sheedy played, that always said, whether he played well or not; "earn your bloody money sheedy". Moral of this story, there's always one!

I have a similar story about a melt who sat next to me in the main stand and every single game he would be screaming at Sheedy to tackle :)) The rest of us wanted people to get past him, so we could see Psycho end them! :))

If he played now sky would be eulogising over him as nauseam . The villa park free kick with just minutes left and if sky were covering the football then they'd still be showing that twice struck free kick.

One of the greatest to pull on the blue shirt .
