Why?

It literally only benefits Fylfi

I think you object cos you think Targetman means big lump up top? Now whilst I think we need 1 of them, somebody who could run the line, like say FOR EXAMPLE a Jamie Vardy, Sergio, neither of which are big players but both can run the line like a proper number 9.

Now I realise that having a big lump up top leads to HOOFBALL, but hey ho.

Now I havent watched enough of this Gramerio fella to know if he can lead the line like a true number 9, hes known more for his finishing, now imagine if you had a big lump up top, WITH somebody like Gramerio playing off the front, well you know.

And yes I know nobody really plays 2 up top anymore, but lots of teams play 4-2-3-1, the 3 behind the Striker can be anything you like, say for example :

Gramerio - Iceland - Rooney
BIG LUMP
Anyway, in short I think we need a big lump, AS well as somebody OTHER than Rooney who can slot, DCL is getting there, but hes still not the finished article, yet.

Yeah you're right it's a big Dunc type forward I don't want

I think the sort of player you need leading the line varies depending on the sort of team you have behind them. Take Palace, Benteke is ideal for them boys because they've got players like Townsend/Zaha/RLC out wide and in the final third looking to commit people and run. So having a big lump works well as it pins centre halves to the middle of the pitch and makes it easier for the 3 mentioned to do what they do best.

Reckon Vardy is a perfect example of what we need. A fast, energetic forward to drag their defenders around the pitch with their movement/pace and allow Sig/Rooney et al (the rest are wank atm) to maneuvre in the pockets of space Vardy's running creates. It's not like we're ever in a rush to get it down the line or get it into the box from deep, even with players who specialise in floating it in, so a target man is pointless.

With a stationary player like Giroud/Dost they'll push their backline right up, piling the pressure on our creators and ensuring our whole attack are just getting in each other's way

Dunno who I'd go for like but that's what Walshy's warriors are for

Never going to happen but getting in both a Dost/Giroud and Gamerio would be brilliant. Gamerio does have a bit of toe about him which would keep a backline honest. I have wanted us to go for him back in his PSG days and would love this to come off.

As for a big lump up front, as long as they are technically sound and can have some good interplay with Rooney, Sigi, Sandro, DCL then it would again be enough to keep some back 3/4/5s honest.

This lad was a player, knew where the goal was and had great technical ability. I haven’t seen enough of him in the last couple of years to know if he still at that level.
If he's still that good he will go somewhere else. If he's carp we are in with a shout
