Kettlebell Training

I don't think that video sets a good example to a beginner (it doesn't suggest it's a technique you can reach over time, it suggests that's how it's done from day one). Flinging them about like that will screw up a novice in minutes. You seem happy that he has a good technique, that's cool, but from what I've seen, the way he's wazzing them between his legs just looks so wrong.

The main injury concern is always a break in the lumbar region, particularly in the lower back. He's totally fine in that area.

His right leg has some play, missed that first time around. Nice spot

As for beginners, it's a co ordination and flexibility thing. Of course a beginner isn't going to have the same level of skill. That doesn't mean one shouldn't look to progress quickly provided there's no break in technique and you're able to adapt to the skill quicky enough.

When lifting the weight is pretty irrelevant, to a point, safety is always about technique. You can injure your self with 100kg on your back, you're just more likely to get away with sloppy technique for longer.

It really isn't, this type of training was primarily used for injury prevention and rehab before it got popular with the fitness crowd. There's nothing 'violent' about what he's doing

You think one thing i think another, lets just agree to disagree

Seem to be all the rage atm. Just a fad, or legitimately improved training method?

Not really a fad, i was using them 10 years ago. They are just another way of mixing up your training, no better or worse than other training equipment.
I dont like the way they hit your wrist when doing cleans, cant be good for the wrist.

Don't like them myself, feel clumsy if that makes sense? Nothing there you can't do with dumbells and you actually have a grip on those so they aren't flapping about.

However my big brother used to be Mr UK and loves them.

instead of all the swinging you can just modify exercises to use the kettlebells - squats, lunges, thrusters, turkish getups

Kettlebells should really just be one aspect of a training program.
Crossfit gyms use them a lot as part of conditioning workouts
