Kenya terrorist attack....

Are you saying Islam has nothing to do with this and almost everything else going on in the world?

Religion is to do with the majority of "stuff" happening in the world, no matter what religion it is. Religion is bad full stop.

Islam is the chosen religion of those who perpetrated the atrocities in Kenya, the religion itself is not to blame.

As I said and Elong reiterated most conflict can be traced back to a religious start point, whatever the religion.

...& yet without it, would they be acting in this manner? They're misguidedly carrying out these deeds in the name of that religion, therefore the religion is at the root of the issue.

Islam has a responsibility to distance itself from these extremists & work with the West on isolating the peddlers of hate that are perpetuating the misinterpretation of the Quran & are radicalising an element of their youth.

I've seen nothing but hollow words from the British Islamic community on this issue & if they want to be excluded from the blame, then they need to make themselves part of the solution imo.

It teaches nothing but intolerance of non believers. I'd argue that it's the peaceful Muslims who are misinterprating the Quran.

Wow, open your history books, look for the Crusades and the Spanish Inquisition for starters.

Anyway, I'm out, not prepared to take part in such one eyed bigotry.

That's a valid point, as there is a level of delusion amongst those Muslims who claim that the Quran does not advocate intolerance.

But it's akin to the Old Testament amongst Christians, only the most ardent would choose to take every word as being both truthful, relevant & righteous in the 21st Century.

It's up the Muslim community to honestly examine their own sacred texts & decide what it is advocating & how they choose to interpret it.

Yeah of course.

But the thing is Islam remains to this day, unreformed and now in conflict with democratic society.

Not to say we're all whiter than white of course.

& the relevance to that in the 21st Century is what exactly?

Are Christians still advocating a Crusade to reform the non believers? Holy War? No I thought not....

p.s. Save the chuck away bigotry tag lad, not having that.

I think a good point made above is that, while the antagonists may be of a certain religion, that doesn't mean their crimes are religiously motivated, or that their religion is to blame.

I have to plead ignorance a little, I haven't followed this story closely.

They are though. It's jihad.

I feel like I have just read a shampoo bottle......

Rinse and repeat.

Anyway, I am closing this, as I feel it is on the verge of boiling over and I would rather not have to deal with that.
