Player Valuation: £6m
I remember everyone was accusing Kenwright of being an idiot for a so called Admin error, seems to me now 15 months on Everton knew excalty what they were doing.
He's played 2 games for Newcastle since leaving us. I think Everton deserve a bit of credit there, saving us alot of money a week for a player that is never fit to play.

To be fair Everton have made some tremendous business decisions over the years, and it's hard to see where this anti board sentiment comes from.

Right, but we could have at least sold him for a couple million instead of just letting him walk away. In this case, at the very least, the club ****ed up. We were just lucky that it happened with Gosling and not a more valuable player. I'm not sure how anyone could argue against that.

We would have had to give him a contract to do that and then its wether anyone comes in for him to sell him. We could of still been stuck with him.

Not getting money for him is an admin cluster phuk! Simple.

Playing 2 games for Newcastle in that time is no indication of whether he'd have played 2 for us. You'd have to look at ALL the circumstances to make that call.

If he was crap, and Bill knew it, he'd be mad to let him go for nothing. So, it's either admin error, or Bill deliberately losing a fee just because he was ****e... I think I know which is the more likely.

Strangest view on losing an England u21 international for free EVER !

May I remind you that the deal was agreed with a handshake and it was Gosling who decide to renege on the deal....

How do you come to the above conclusion regarding this decision????

can't be giving that deadbeat any credit for the gosling screw-up.

it was an awful error regardless of how it's turned out for him.

Not defending anyone, but, would he have gone to Newcastle if a fee had been involved. I don't think so, he was worth almost nowt.

Everton will lose out on compensation that could have been as much as £4million, because they did not put their offer in writing, but strongly deny they have been guilty of an administrative blunder. They insist similar deals in the past, with the likes of Wayne Rooney and Jack Rodwell, have been based on mutual trust and that a similar gentleman's agreement existed with Gosling.

The feeling within Everton is that a written offer should not have been necessary, given an expression of intent from Gosling to stay put, and that it would have done nothing to prevent him quitting, once he changed his mind.
