Kendall thinks Everton should go after Wayne Rooney

Rooney will play for us again one day, I'm sure of it. However the 'people' around him are not going to let him sign for us on a fraction on when he is getting at Utd.
If he moves this summer I'm sure it will abroad somewhere such as Bayern or PSG.

Unless there's a massive shift in Everton's off-field fortunes I doubt we'll be seeing Rooney return for another five or six years.

I don't hate him at all, but I'll be fuming if he comes back in a similar state to what Gazza was in when he rolled up here.

love the way people take the piss out of everton football clubs greatest ever manager

I'm taking the piss out of the suggestion that we can get Rooney back at his age. It's the sort of comment I'd make to my mates or my family in jest when I think they're way off the mark. I may be wrong mate. It certainly wouldn't be the first time. Nor the last (I hope). But I reserve the right to be wrong. As does Howard Kendall I'm sure.

It's quite sad when an old former manager appears to have more ambition for the club than our current one. What Kendall says actually makes good sense but, with the powers that be running our club, we won't see Rooney back until he's 34 and about 18 stone.
It's also sad that someone had to point out that Kendall walked out on us after the 1987 season. Ok, so he left, but the man had ambition as a manager and the Heysel disaster and subsequent ban from Europe meant that whatever he wanted to fulfil over and above winning a domestic league, he could not do with Everton any longer. I'm sure that he didn't expect or foresee the complete dismantling of his team under Colin Harvey and decades of decline.

If Rooney decides he wants to come to Everton no matter what, then Rooney will come to Everton.

United can do absolutely nothing about it other than name a price, and even then they're wide open to Rooney throwing a strop if it's too high.

If we sell Fellaini for £25-30m, that is comfortably enough for Rooney - with change to boot. People are underestimating player power here and there's no smoke without fire when it comes to the Rooney return to Everton.

Fully expect to see him back at Goodison within the next 24 months myself.
