Just talking to me dad about Doddy, he was a big fan.
My dad worked on castle st with the police dogs during the trial of Dodd.
He said George Carmen Qc, Dodds lawyer, often came for some fresh air and a chat, but mainly to give the police dogs a fuss.
Carmen described the trial as farcical.
He said the evidence was so complex, a jury shouldn't be listening to it, let alone 12 scousers trying one of their heroes !
When giving evidence, the Judge had to stop Dodd in his tracks. Mr Dodd can I remind you, that you are giving evidence in court, not on the London Palladium. Apparantly Doddy went straight into his 'hello Mrs etc' routine.
Just incredible.
The QC said, this evidence should take a jury at least 5 days to reach even some sort of a verdict..
How long did it take them ?
14 minutes.
Became part of his act.. Income tax used to be a penny in the pound.. No one told me it had gone up.
Self assessment ? I invented that !!
RIP.
