Keane v Walters beef

Roy Keane was an absolute thoroughbred winner, demanded absolutely everything from every player in his squad.

He gets overlooked because technically he wasn’t as good as other midfielders , but he was the beating heart of one of the most dominant sides in the history of the game.

You’re not giving him anywhere near the credit he deserves imo.

He’s an absolute bell as a human like, but look at how much Duncan Ferguson is revered here, he didn’t do 1/10 of what Keane did in football
I start thinking of Roy Keane and everything you say is probably true. But I can't get past the fact he's a dick and it's there my thought process ends.

Doesn't seem that long ago to me but Keane is of another era. I respected him because he was a winner and would do anything for his team because that's the way you were brought up when playing sports. Now he's seen as a bully because he might have raised his voice at someone. Same if you watch the KP series on Sky were he accuses the likes of Broad and Swann of being bullies because they weren't happy someone dropped a catch. Couldn't think of two less bullies but it seems accusing someone and playing the victim excuses you being a bell.

No comparison as footballers, but the thing I've always liked about Ferguson is he never really played up to the hardman thing. By all accounts he was actually pretty ashamed of it, but he just had a switch, and when it went it went. Keane seems to spend his whole life wanting to be the big man, 'telling it like it is' and sounding like a raving old drunk in the corner of the pub.

Keane didn't even answer the questions properly and explain what happened, just kept trying to be funny going do me a favour

Eamon Dunphy, once Keane's biggest public defender, is right when he says nowadays he's just caricature with nothing actually interesting to say about game. He isn't anywhere near as knowledgeable people seem to think he is, hence why he his coaching career has been such a failure.

He did alright at Sunderland, to be fair.

Seems like the sort to lose a dressing room fairly quickly though.

I had the fortune to meet (albeit briefly) Dunc at a club event in Bristol a couple years ago, and was shocked at just how softly spoken he was.

Just had that turn in him though, I remember watching the Leicester game, something went in his head and he ended up strangling that German guy. Could see it was a fairly direct character switch.
