All the weirdos on here who think players are just a collection of fifa stats and can't understand why they don't perform exactly the same every week need to read this article.

Human factors are a huge part of personal and team development and, as demonstrated by this article, elite footballers have often had unusual childhoods which have eroded some of the natural protective factors against psychological or social issues.
 
De Bruyne is one of my favourite City players, and it was an interesting read. I always thought he came across as a bit shy and quiet.

And yes, people do forget that footballers are human beings. The bit about his wife and son really hit home - his son could have died. People forget footballers have families and lives outside the game. Remember Silva's worries about his kid, for instance.
