Housequake

Player Valuation: £8m
I'll put up a poll which should numerically determine our overall feelings on this.

I'm sure most of you are aware of my stance over the bloke, but my frequent posts on the matter stem from the complete mystery over how one player can go from beating a record held by Dixie Dean to being utterly, utterly inept in front of goal.

Go on, what's been the problem?

For me, he's just an awfully limited footballer and his 2-3 month one man Blitzkrieg in front of goal was simply a fluke, as he's gone from 11 in 16 to 2 in a calendar year. None of this "confidence" sh*te.

Opinions please.

Superseded by a superior striker, not being the big fish anymore, and the psychological implications of a terrible loss of form.

Mix together and bake for 18 months.....

I think he just hit a purple patch when he joined and he's always actually been sh*t, he looked good in Scotland but that's not hard, he's been badly found out against decent defenders.

I don't think anything has happened, I tried and tried to figuire it out and give him the benefit of the doubt. My conclusion is, he never was that good, just hit a majestic purple patch when he first got here.

Although I can never understand how someone who made goalscoring look so effortless in his first 6months now looks like he is dancing on ice whenever a spherical object is near.

Even when he was scoring plenty of people remarked on his lack of ability anywhere other than in the six yard box.

So he had to keep scoring. Defenders cottoned on to him, he lost confidence, now over-thinks what is naturally instinctual, tried too hard etc etc.

He's done, that's all there is to it. I think he'd do quite well in a slightly less difficult European league, but anyone still following the Jelavic road will end up falling into a big [Poor language removed] off ravine.

He's a goal scorer, when he's in the box he was lethal. His confidence is shot and its ruined him, perfect example was Stoke the other week.

He was never a tosh player because some of the goals he scored were brilliant, one touch and in the net. People do have short memories, even some of the touches that he used to do were magnificent.

That's true, but it's only because he was boss for about 14 minutes a year and a half ago, it's hard to imagine him now without picturing Alan Partridge running away from Jed in that field.

He's really not that good at football, and just went through the form of his life when he arrived. That's the only conclusion I can draw.

I always held my reservations about the guy when we signed him. Struck me as an average striker at the time and has proven to be one now. Not that i am claiming anything from that, for a few months he was proving me wrong! I just think at the time, Moyes went for the cheapest option available and then after pairing his strike partner up with him again, never bothered to play them together.

Last season he could have been decent if Naismith played alongside him, just a goal could have kick started their partnership and saved Moyes's arse when it came to all those draws. Ifs and buts back then eh, it makes no difference now.

When a striker on more than one occasion miskicks the ball when it is passed to him, you have to cut your losses and say he isnt good enough.

Cba to push himself to regain form after being knocked back for an aggressive pay rise last summer imo

Edit:
+ a bit of the previous manager's influence...
