Just a nice story

....fine story. Visited Dubai a few times in recent years as my son was working there. Watched a few Everton games in fine company over plenty of beers. A real diversity of football supporters sharing stories in the right spirit.
Yeah - we've got a good crew out here. I made a logo for us a couple of seasons back actually!

One of our members is "Big Rossi" who used to work on some radio stations back on the Liverool (including radio city) before he moved over here to work on Virgin Radio. Anyways - his celebrity status gets us a decent load of free beers on Match day!

Let me know next time you're over. We meet at Girders JBR now and even have the garden for us most weeks during winter.

Just looking at that picture of the game playing under flood lights. The ball is clearly displayed in the middle of the picture.... but what is the player bottom right looking at ?

He's obviously been paid off to look the wrong way by the Echo spot the ball competition while they took a photo for the next weeks contest

Emergency Protocols eh

back then floodlights were new tech and liable to go on the blink. and the was still the odd power cut if demand got too large.

I went to the first floodlit game on at S.Lpool in 1954 13k crammed into Holly Park that night to watch South beat a Nigerian select 2-0. They played in bare feet on a cold November night they had, though memory is a bit hazy, a promising young lad playing benny yaku or something.

btw the interweb give the year as 1949 but as that was (just ) befor I was born it's obviously wrong...I know, I was there. to quote max boyce
