Jury Duty

Had to be a witness for an Assault case once. One Korean girl beating the **** out of another outside a restaurant i was in. Had to take a personal day but ended up with an extra $110 (Aus) and the satisfaction of helping someone get whats coming to them.

Got called in...survived my first day without getting picked. The jury pool I was selected for was a child molestation case...NO THANK YOU. Did some fancy talking to get out of that one. Let's just say I made it very clear I would not be able to be impartial.

Have to go back tomorrow. Just need to get lucky and not get picked.

Funny thing is, if it wasn't for me losing out on a lot of wages by being there, I'd actually like to do it. Got picked once before. It was pretty fascinating. But the amount of money I lose by not being able to work makes it impossible for me to be excited about doing my civic duty.

What's the deal over the in the UK re: sitting on juries?

Homer Simpson style or because you couldnt be ar5ed to try to find out if someone wrongly accused was actually innocent?

I served on a 10 week trial, fraud and corruption , very complex and often sensationally boring. But the slug was guilty as sin, ruined dozens of lives, he felt our wrath.

I'd do it again though.

Yes subject to some pretty low limits though:

That's not too bad tbh.

My mum's done it twice, once was a murder but commuted to manslaughter to secure conviction the other was some serial rapist who abducted and raped a couple of teenagers.

If I ever did I would always find a drug dealer innocent. Drugs are boss and taking away the suppliers just bumps up the price. Not even joking here btw, if people want to take drugs then they should be allowed.

It's crazy that dealers get more than rapists. In recent weeks I've seen a rapist who held a knife to the girls throat whilst filming it get 6 years and some drug smugglers got 18 years or so each,

It's farcical.
