Weird this

Italy were fine with Conte doing the Euro's even though he was going to Chelsea

Ditto England with Bobby Robson in 1990. Everyone knew he was going PSV following that tournament
Not really. The Head of the Spanish FA is a staunch Barca Man.
He's seen his chance to boot out a Manager who extracted the urine whilst blaming it all on Real.

There was no agreement for him to go or even talks with the Spanish FA, he just announced he was leaving to take the Real job.

Surely he can't legally leave for Madrid unless the Spanish FA agree to him leaving? He's under contract isn't he?

They must have known and are now just doing this to save face. They clearly wanted Madrid to announce it after the tournament rather than now and Madrid didn't want to wait

Their statement says they were told of his leaving for Madrid 5 minutes before he announced it to the Press.
He just told them he was quitting after the World Cup so they fired him

He can't just quit like that. They'd have to either accept his resignation or release him from his contract

If they've got a legally binding contract then the Spanish FA would need to agree to release him from it, otherwise it would open up Real Madrid to legal action

Exactly. I mean he probably gave them a months notice to cover him for the World Cup, but they would still need to accept it.

I think Spain did the right thing. The guy was extracting the michael, and for behaving badly has now missed out on the greatest opportunity and experience he could have wished for...stupid, just plain stupidity.....
