I don't think it is, my opinion personally. I don't think it's the sort of thing that should be hidden, or should be embarrassed about. I have felt left out as everyone who has added content here is very familiar with it in one way or another.

Is there a case that high school history is too German focused as it is? Very little seems to be taught about Stalin for instance, or Mao.

It's arguable for instance that post-war has shaped the 21st century far more than the 6-7 years of the war itself, given things like Israel-Palestine, North/South Korea, the Cold War, India/Pakistan and so on.

It seems almost like Germany is focused on because it directly affected us, but the rest of the world is forgotten a bit.

They cant exactly fit everything into school History lessons though or it would take over the curriculum, and tbh it aint exactly high on the list of priorities academically.

The kids should be educated on ww2 and the Nazis, but should also be shown that this kind of stuff is in more recent history as well in Kosovo, talk about the Siege of Stalingrad and then show how the residents of Sarajevo were under siege in a similar way.

If anyone wants a factual account of the subject there's a huge hardback book I read around 15 years ago....The Complete History of The Third Reich....a significant section focuses on the human experiments and the Nazi reasoning for doing them. Extremely disturbing, but people should understand what humanity has allowed to happen and found excuses for.
The "civil war" in Yugoslavia confirmed lessons hadn't been learned.
As someone said, it's an absolutely fascinating topic but ultimately tragic in the extreme.

Very difficult to get hold of, I am trying though.
