Coventry City look set to lose defender Jordan Willis with a host of Premier League clubs battling for his signature, Sky Sports understands.

The 17-year-old made his first-team debut last term, making three appearances for the Sky Blues.

Willis is an England youth international and is already on the radar of a host of top-flight clubs.

Sky Sports understands that Manchester City, Liverpool, Newcastle, Everton and Aston Villa are all keen on the central defender.

wahoo we're getting linked with more centre backs, suppose we need to replace our 6th choice dier

Having a good prospect for the future isn't a bad thing. Pair him up with Duffy and we could be set to have a beast pairing of centre halves for years to come. That is if he has any ability.

Not sure he would be looking for a huge move yet though, not going to get playing time at most of the clubs listed as interested. Can't see him being used ahead of Duffy here..... but maybe give him time to develop out of the limelight like another teenager we know.......

He has only been a professional for a short time - linked with the premierleague already?

Yeah that does seem a bit odd. But a centre half playing in the Championship at 17, albeit not regularly playing, could be a testament to his ability.

I for one have never heard of him, nor seen him play, is there anyone here who knows a bit more about him or his ability?

would need all the ones before him to get injured before moyes thinks of giving him a go, even then he'll still start weir instead and get another 40 yr old on loan to partner him

I wasn't suggesting he would be used right away, but more of a prospect for the future. Our centre halves are aging (Distin has a year or two left in him, Jags and Johnny still a few each) and we need replacements when they go. Starting with two young centre halves and pairing them together in reserves//preseason matches//as squad fillers will only make their adjustment into the first team better.

yeah i know mate, im all for bringing in youth, its the only possibility we have of competing with our financial position, just pissed off all our rumours seem to be consisting of centre backs, we need to strengthen key areas of our 1st team before we look towards the future, we have a lot of talent coming through as it is

Yeah, I certainly agree with you on that. Our first team needs strengthening in a few key positions, it just doesn't seem like we have the funds to do it (same old same old).

I guess I just get excited at the prospect of us signing someone, even if it is just a prospect for the future.

Another benefit of signing good prospects is it ups the level in training our other talents play with. Same goes for the reserve side and the U18 team. Could help them hone skills and develop at a different rate//improve their ability.

Could get much more excited about this signing for the future if we had already signed a RM, as I think would be the case for everyone else as well. But it because a bit dross when we are only being linked with CB for the future and no end in sight.

He's 17. Smart to think about the future. Distin, Heitinga and Jagielka dont last forever. Just hope he's cheap.

Haven't we been thinking about the future before, only to never give them a chance and let them move on. I've lost count of the number of 17-20 year olds Everton have had on the books and never played!

Or am I just getting cynical in my old age?
