Jon Walters Appreciation Thread

Both players are not crap, I would agree that they are limited technically, the one thing that stands out for me is Naismith will always work hard and get dirty, whilst the likes of mirallas sometimes stand around thinking about what diamond ring to wear to tonights football awards or something. Every team that has been successful has had a work horse in there. Think Busquets to Iniesta, Gattuso to Kaka, makelele to robben, mascherano to gerrard, all players who only shine because of the hard work that goes on around them, can you explain why mourinho never sold Obi Mikel ? Or why benitez risked losing Alonso to bring in barry ?

Maybe we should of sold cahill or carsley because they weren't rooney or arteta ?
At the end of the day its all about opinions and we agree to disagree, you will probably miss the 'dogs' when our team of martinez' golden generation are getting beat away to palace or stoke 2-0.
All the players you're listing are defensive midfielders, and it's kinda necessary to have at least in the team... but none are, incidentally, a striker or winger, ever wonder why?

And even Cahill actually had good feet and technique!

Okay then I raise you Dirk Kuyt to Fernando Torres. (Best I got right now).

Kuyt also had decent technique to complement his drive and work rate, to be honest! I get what you mean though, there has to be a work horse, but the thing is - he has to be decent. Naismith doesn't really have anything bar a "fox in the box" status every so often - he's just not got it. I'd love it for him to magically acquire these skills, as he's a genuinely nice and likeable guy, but it's not really likely I think lol

Person in highest tax band in not voting Labour shocker! If Barkley was a Tory voter would you want him sold?

Sold? Choo choo, [Poor language removed].

From a solely footballing point of view JW is very underrated in what he gives on the pitch I feel. Alas time is not on his side (he's thirty one in think) so doubt we'd sign him in the future now even on a free next summer if he doesn't sign a new contract with Stoke.
