Loved that chant, although I always remember it as Sandy Brown rather than Keith Newton

On topic - One tough nut that Moggsy. Used to shrug off challenges that would see bans handed out now, and he could dish a bit out himself at times.
I'm sure that I can remember him breaking a Burnley forwards leg in a night cup match at home. On the centre-spot, I think the lads
name could have been Willie Irvine.

Yes Norman hunter took HK out inside ten minutes cut him in half, they killed Moggsy in one game too went to Leland road a bit to see the blues in the days of th A roads over the Pennines- my older brother told me a story in the 1-1 draw in the FA cup before the drink drive law my late father and his mates stopped at a tetley pub his mate had a transit van full of miners as mates heavy drinkers pulled in before the kick off drank the bitter pumps dry as they were leaving the locals entered to find the bitter pumps drylol
All the barrels empty moaning like hell at my dad and his mates we got a retaken pen at the end to draw!
Remember that game Joey, Alex Scott took the first penalty, don't know why, it was saved, Roy Vernon then stepped up and scored, never understood why Scott took the penalty when Vernon was on the pitch, Vernon was the ace of penalty
takers.

....I think the story was that Shankly was on holiday when we bought him and went bollistic when he found out.
Yes true that Eggs, same as Shankley got the mickey taken out of him when we signed Howard Kendall, Shankley was very keen on signing Howard, but Harry Catterick, like he usually did, nipped on got Howard, Evertonians used to say, while
Catterick was signing Howard, Shankley got lost up in the Lake District looking for Kendall.

If I'm not mistaken Jimmy Milne was the Preston manager and would'nt sell to Liverpool because he would of been replacing his son,one Gordon Milne.

A Mogsy magic moment - Sunderland away at Roker Park, January 1969 - he nutmegged the baldy Cecil Irwin, by the half way line, scampered down the left wing and put a pinpoint cross into the box for the surging Joe Royle to bullet a header into the net. I was on my tod in a Sunderland section and it was brilliant trying to decipher the dogs bollocks of abuse given to poor old Cecil - the Mackems were actually laughing at how Morrissey took the piss out of him.

Yes my late father and the transit van gang full of ale were puzzled by that the cup tie before Scott had scored from a pen - Evidently we did not play well it was near the final whistle, and we were awarded a pen - chico Scot made an harry halls of it the evertonians decided to go then the ref claimed the keeper had moved before he took it!
Roy Vernon ran for the ball grabbed it put in on the spot and made it 1-1 - they found another pub on the way home on the pennines and enjoyed their beer my older brother was sat on the bar with pop and crisp a tradition I was to follow on with as he got older that transit van everyone was sat on beer crates in the back - the driver would take 6-8 fans each away gamelol
we won the replay ;)
