Mate the games moved on from them days, the days of "get stuck into them, let them know your there" are well gone, I'm afraid them days are well and truly behind us more's the pity. And by the way Parkinson was the only good player out of them three.
I don't know,I thought Barry Horne was a right donkey initially, but once Big Joe came in we saw a lot of guile about him allied to the dogs of war tag.

Ebbrell was a "trier" - but not particular outstanding at any aspect of football.

No hard feelings about him at all, good to welcome him back to the club.

Have to laugh at the way former players who were not blessed with outstanding football skills are dismissed as being <insert expletive>.

Tough tackling midfielder, played for the shirt, survived an assassination attempt from McMahon, helped us win the Cup, was crippled by injury problems in the end.

Remembered fondly here as a proper Blue.

I personally thought ebbrell was one of those players who did a lot of good work that was sometimes only noticed when he wasn't there

Yes....he was being billed as a "future England captain" before he even made our first team.

Legend in my eyes, though.

When Feck Off McMahon tried to break him at the Pit one day John never shirked it and the bugger ended up breaking his own leg.

Yeah, whatever else, he was a brave player. I remember that tackle at Anfield. I always wondered if the damage to his ankle from it had anything to do with later problems. Probably not. But it was about the only time Ebbrell ever looked like he was about to start a fight...
