Guttered. Would have loved for him to be the director of football or something similar for us, Roberto was very keen on the idea too. Maybe we offered it too him but he turned it down?

We need to bring more ex-players back into the fold, the Moyes era was notoriously short of people who truly understood the club in important roles.

...shame, like others I thought he was already with us. I know he has 'history' with Norwich but at his age I'd have thought he would want to be near his home (which I understand is Burscough/Ormskirk).

I wonder if he was waiting for the club to offer him a position for a while and then Norwich came in with a concrete offer which he couldn't turn down...(?)
