Player Valuation: £5m
Joe Kinnear has resigned as Newcastle's director of football after less than eight months in the role.

The 67-year-old, who was above manager Alan Pardew in the club's management structure, claimed to be overseeing player recruitment.

However, the Magpies failed to sign anyone on a permanent deal during his second spell on Tyneside.

I still reckon Ashley only gave him a job cos of him having to leave the Managers job after his heart problems.

But a moronic imbecile nevertheless.

The guy was a joke anyway. The geordies hated him and clearly he did nothing there transfer wise apart from sell their best player. Graham carr is the best for recruitment there. He signed all their best players himself.

The geordies reckon he was only there to protect mike Ashley from his pr backlash and is pardew had a bad season he would have taken over.

Ashley is not a man who mixes charitable acts with business imo.

He employed a man that he knew was a total clown, to totally undermine Pardew imo, with the hope that he'd take his bat & ball home & walk out on his lengthy contract.

Pardew stuck it out & had some decent results, so reduced the pressure on himself, at the same time the man brought in to manage incoming transfers totally blobbed in 2 consecutive windows, thus he had to be shot, as he'd predictably failed in the role, as well as not having the desired original effect.

That makes more sense actually.

Joe Kinnear can get on the phone to any manager in the world

any football manager in the world Joe can get on the phone too,

he can pick up the phone and speak to any football manager in world football

and that speaks volumes

I remember he actually managed to make Wimbledon play decent football one season and got manager of the year or something. He should be remembered for that.

A much funnier reason to remember him is Charlie Insomnia however...

He used to drink like a fish, not sure if he still does......

.....then again, maybe his Talksport interview might give us a clue there like...

What he didn't go on and say was:

As soon as they find out its Joe Kinnear they slam the phone down.

The fat headed cockney tool

Nail on head.

That sounds surprisingly plausible....all of it.

doesnt Pardew have some sort of proviso in his contract that if he's sacked he only gets 12months compo? I really recall reading that from multiple places. which would make that "he hoped Pardew would walk" redundant, no?

Not sure, would not surprise me if it is 12 months compensation built into the contract.

Ashley is a very sharp business man not to be messed with, he spent quite a bit of last year trying to buy House of Fraser. Could not meet up on valuations between both parties so he has now bought into Debenhams and expected to attempt a takeover of Debenhams. He will try and kill House of Fraser now.
