Reidy's Bottle Of Grecian

The Unobstructed View
Sanding the Banister and Spindles, taking me yonks, dust everywhere, rubbish sandpaper, aching fingers, way too many spindles blah blah, will hopefully look ace when all done, stained and varnished but had enough now.

I did my ma's hall, stairs and landing January, regretted it from the moment I started it. Stripped all the walls, prepped the wood work and then painted all the wood and finished it by decorating the walls.

Then at the weekend my brother in law knocked a wall down for her in the hall, so now she wants the hall bit re-doing. I'm staying away for a few weeks.

Took tomorrow and Friday off to knock down the shed left by the last owner, dig out the back and turf it

Did me ma's hall, stairs landing years ago, nightmare of a job.
She got it painted white again a year later....still fuming!

Women for you mate, can never make they're minds up. Had a phone call off mine before asking me to tile the floor, not chance am I doing it. Thank God I go back to work in a couple of weeks.

Why is it that us men think that we can tackle DIY projects that we have zero experience of, zero training and zero skill at doing?

I used to take on all sorts of jobs and they'd invariably end up with them taking eons and ending up looking like a dogs arse. So I take the Yellow pages approach to them these days, much more civilised

hah! She said the same ages ago mate. Still not done. Told her it needs to be done properly.

I've told her to get my brother in law to do it, he is a builder, he gives her these ideas, starts the jobs then says he is busy and then I have her nagging at me, I wouldn't mind I don't do it in our house we always get people in to do it.

What does that even mean.

Being a cripple has it's benefit, I just pay people to do it.

The crappy section at the back of the garden is higher than the rest of the garden, Dig it down about 2 inches put in some good grade top soil and lay some turf to match the rest of the garden

Then put in some edgings, Put up a new gate and put up a fence

I think I could manage that, but eff that if I can pay someone like.

Fair play for doing that Del.

It would cost a fortune to pay someone Bryz

The skip is £130, Topsoil and turf about £200, So paying two men would add another £300 onto it easy

All this so I can put up a playhouse for the baby, Thats £600 ffs

I'm in this situation now, think I would prefer do one overtime shift and pay someone else to do it. Either that or take more than a few days to do it myself.
