What is it like where you work?I have recently had a promotion into management and I'm curious as to what the reaction of you're colleagues was? Most reactions seem to be, who did you brown nose? As apparently that's the only way you get anywhere. Nobody seems happy so see anyone better/further themselves. I work for a supposed blue chip company but didn't realise the divide between shop floor and management was so big? Hope people get the gist of my ramblings, I know what I'm trying to say!

A lot will depend upon how you treat the people you used to work alongside as much as your capability to manage. Consider getting them all together and talking with them, not at them. Be prepared to listen more than you speak, and then reflect upon what gets said. You will more than likely get some element of jealousy and the best ways to overcome it are a. Don't react and raise your voice... B. Prove by your actions and work that you merit the job and the staffs respect.

Sleep with each of their mums, or dads, whichever you prefer, take lots of video footage and then let them know that if they step out of line the footage is going on xhamster, with a link e-mailed to everyone in the companies database.

This is the obvious answer. Come on mate, think outside the box for once

....you concentrate on staff reaction to you but don't lose sight of how you manage the change, it is important. You have a job to do but stay grounded and you will earn the respect of those who report to you and those you report to. You'll be good.

This is what I've been trying to do but the thought of someone trying to better and develop themselves to some people disgusts them

Never had one in my life, always leave for more money.
