Job advice

My work is a stress-free 15 minute cycle from home. I can wear what I like, I get a few perks and it's very much give-and-take as far as time management goes. I like what I do and the people I work with are reasonable.

I can tell you now that if I had to do the daily commute into town, wear a suit and generally fall into line with the rest of the rat race, I would be looking for a good 20-25% raise. Your time and mental wellbeing are worth a heck of a lot.

I agree with all of you EXCEPT the part of the job I love (the actual day to day and the manager I work for) is probably going to change even if I stay with my current company. That's what has me thinking.

The big thing is giving up working from home. This is the part I'm struggling with. However my new boss wouldn't even be here and she flat out told me she doesn't care when I come in or leave as long as the work gets done. We talked about working virtually and she agrees with me but it's not her call.

This is a tough one. There's pros and cons to each.

You have to take the rough with the smooth. If you want market contract rates you have to be prepared to jump through hoops, which of course involves being on time, on site every day. We'd all like to be paid top dollar to sip magharitas on the beach, but it's called WORK for a reason!
