I think he needs a loan next season, as it's going to do little for his development sitting on the bench

If a League One or Championship side are interested, loan him out for a season and let him get some minutes

Even make it a 2 year loan if it's agreeable for everyone

Still very young (Only 20), so way too early to say whether he'll make it or not, but I think what he needs right now is time on the pitch in first team football, and I can't see us giving him it when we've still got Robles and are almost sure to be signing a new keeper in the summer to boot

We wanted to loan him out to A League club Central Coast managers but the Football Federation Australia blocked the deal from going through due to the rules stating international players have to be over 21 to play here.

Clubs have requested the rules change so he may be able to be loaned their next season.

Does anyone what the pecking order is for the young keepers? In terms of which is the most highly rated?

As far as I know we've still got Stanek, Griffiths, Hunt and Hewelt. Stanek was on the bench when Howard was out but Hewelt seems to play for the u21s most often I think? Having never seen any of them myself, just wondered if others have and what their thoughts were?

I think the club needs to sign two senior keepers to be honest to join Tobles - can't think of another Premier League club who had only two keepers as Everton did last season. Stanek or one of the other young keepers might be decent, but he hasn't played a senior club game in his life, and I can't see him getting a game that high up the leagues. Keepers like Ruddy needed years of loans in lower stakes games to get up to anything like the standard needed. Look at Iain Turner to see how making high profile errors can affect the confidence, I think the game where he played against Utd ruined his career.

Chelsea, Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, City, Spurs Etc.

It's tough for young keepers as it's a role that doesn't get rotated very often, so it's hard to build up any kind of experience. We've had a load of promising young keepers over the years, but none have progressed to the first team. It suggests we haven't cracked that process with anything like the efficiency with which we've mastered the progression of other positions.

Hopefully some of the young keepers will get some senior football under their belts next season though.

This issue is a lot of top keepers don't hit their prime until late 20's early 30's so its always going to be tough for keepers in the academy

Chelsea, Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, City, Spurs Etc.

Chelsea have Amelia, Begovic and Courtois
Utd have de Gea, Romero, Valdes, Johnstone
RS have Mignolet, Bogdan and Ward
Arsenal have Ospina, Cech, Szczesny(?) and Martinez
City have Hart, Caballero and Wright

Tottenham seem to only have two to be fair, and some of the names at other clubs are terrible - not sure what Richard Wright is doing for his wage at City for example, but they are there to prevent the kids from being exposed in an injury crisis, as one mistake could ruin them. That's why Everton have brought in players like Hahnemann who were unlikely to get a game but would prevent exposure of the young keepers.

Between the players highlighted how many games have they played? Wright is there for English contingency, Szczesny is out on loan, Valdes is out on loan, Amelia was brought in when Courtois got that injury, Ward and Johnstone I've never heard of and is Maritinez still at Arsenal?

Wright has just retired.

met him a few times when he was at ipswich. Thought he would be top notch.

who the heck is this?
What passed virtually unnoticed was that he was on the bench for a PL match when Howard was injured, but was never required. I mentioned this at the time as he appeared to be our SIXTH choice keeper in that as well as Howard, Robles , in the u 21 team Hewelt and Griffiths had been regularly selected ahead of him then another youngster Louis Gray appeared on the U21s sub bench. I think there must have been more injuries to those ahead of him at the time but it was quite scary that we were another injury in warm up away from such an inexperienced GK playing in a PL match.
....he was impressive in the televised game v Southampton but you rarely get a goalie coming through the ranks at Everton.
Think that was Hewelt mate not Stanek.
