Anyone else watched this?

Just watched the first episode. Its quite an astonishing refresher of how popular and integrated he was in public life. I recall him being on TV as a kid, but didn't quite realise how big a deal he was. An absolute shocker that the Royals and Thatcher loved him.

About to watch the 2nd episode now, no doubt it unpacks his creepiness more.
When you consider nearly every kid at some point watched Jim'l Fix It and every teen watched Top of the Pops, he was massive. Since back then you didnt have loads of choices on what to watch on TV, no DVD players, few had videos....etc and pre C4 in 82 there was only 3 channels on TV he was being broadcast into everyones house, daily.

His top of the pops episodes were removed from the archives. Incredulous that he was actually giving advice to prince Charles on how to handle the media or different events. It could have been exposed a lot sooner if the police had taken the allegations seriously. Instead, there’s no justice whatsoever for the victims , he’s dead and he was revered til the end and see the numbers that attended his funeral and calling him Our Jimmy

I’m amazed how many people associated with him and the BBC have came out saying that they thought/knew he was abusing young kids but said nothing at the time? Maybe some did but it was all hushed up.

Horrendous. Hiding in plain sight backed up by his friendship with Thatcher, royalty and The Pope. There was/is a documentary on Discovery + about a year ago that unpicks a 1999 interview he gave to Andrew Neil, using a team of psychologists in various fields. Comments like " I don't like women, they know too much. I like girls".
Remember this one

Seen it.

What that tells you is the people in power and the royal family said 'look at this raging pedophile.. he is so blatant and in peoples face yet they love him..we need to learn from him'.

Not necessarily saying they are pedophile some are. But people in power want to keep the masses on side even though they are blatantly corrupt and everything else.

Savile was the master it's why they made friends with him and sought his advise countless times.

Yeah, i think Hislop later said the best way to hide the fact your a pedophile is the dress like a pedophile, act like a pedophile and talk like a pedophile.
In the Discovery + one I watched that I can't for the life of me remember what it was called , the experts noted that when he was asked a potentially awkward question he would either light his cigar giving himself additional time to think or do something funny like pulling a banana out of his pocket and pretending to light it like a cigar. Everybody laughed and the moment passed. Completely deflected.

Oh aye, they're clearly just as exploitative and manipulative in their own way as Savile was, just for (mostly) different ends.

How anyone without power can think the ruling class in this country are on their side beggars belief.

Maybe Frank Lampard can explain it to you. He's Tory and speaks well.

One of us and gets us I've heard.
