"major incident" has been declared on Jersey, with reports of multiple deaths at a property in St Helier.

Jersey Evening Post reported that at least four people, two of which are believed to be children, were killed in a domestic incident.

The island's police has confirmed that a "serious incident" has taken place.

The emergency department at Jersey General Hospital was closed, with visitors being turned away from the hospital's wards.

BBC Jersey's Tim Pryor says police are at Upper Clarendon Road, St Helier, where an area has been cordoned off.

I opened this thread just to make a cheap Bergerac joke but sad situation. If anyone knows the people involved my thoughts are with you.

Police were called to a flat at Victoria Crescent, Upper Midvale Road, at 15:00 BST after reports of a multiple stabbing incident.

A 30-year-old man is in police custody at Jersey Hospital where he is also recovering from surgery.

6 people dead, 2 men, 2 women and 2 children. The kids were apparently aged 5 and 8. It's hard to believe this happened just up the road from me.

At the moment it seems a guy just went crazy. I'm hearing that the victims are members of the same family.

I tried to get some info off the Police there, because I have friends that live up there, but they don't seem to know what has happened.

Sorry to hear that dude. I'm presuming they've caught him?

Yeah he's in Police custody following surgery, I've heard he tried to take his own life after it.

It's a good job he failed to. It makes me extremely angry when people get out the easy way after doing something as horrible as that. Let's just hope his punishment is actually a solid punishment ffs.
