Liverpool Echo today - "If their laudable ambitions of Europe ultimately fall short, it will be because the club failed to add to a thin squad in January."

and some insider info? (not from twitter)

"Perhaps the worst part, is they lied to Moyes, told in december they'd ensure he'd have 10mil to spend in January, but as BK put so well all those years ago, you dont need 10mil to buy a 10mil player

we had less than 3 mil, and admittedly it nearly got us Fer (2mil now rest in 2259) and it got us Stones (750k now see you in the summer)

Is it any wonder he has reservation about signing, and is rumoured to want changes to Elstones responsibilities.

10mil doesnt buy a lot, but it gives you a lot more options than 3mil the rest later "

I don't really have any idea of the goings on inside the club although I do have my doubts this is a out spending money .

All I know about January is moyes had met/spoke to a number of agents and had the money available to target a 'couple of loans ' . I genuinely don't believe that it was a tactic but who knows . Suddenly and I mean suddenly we made the fer offer which came from nowhere . The money is rumoured to have come (either as a loan or guarantee ) from someone connected to the club .

Perhaps confusion over funds has effected moyes and the above can obviously be viewed as speculation but that's what I was told about January . Although even if there are issues over whats availavle to hom i personally believe its mostly about moyes looking about to see what's about.

Mark Lawrenson said that David Moyes was told in the third week of January there was money to spend, hence the bid for Fer. Before that it was only going to be loan deals as he had suggested.

Regarding the responsibilities of Elstone. I can only imagine that David Moyes wanted to alter his influence in transfer or contract negotiations.
Anything other than that is not within the managers remit and I think he would be told as much.

The phrase 'cap in hand gets kick in teeth' springs to mind.

Until Moyes starts to fight his corner in these transfer windows, why should anyone believe he's being hard done by? I think he is being given the runaround, because that's the way Everton roll. But he backs his employers up when deals turn to ashes.

He's part of the problem.

Exactly,

And he only has one trump card. The fact that he can leave if not backed

Which he is playing this summer.
