Player Valuation: £1m
There will be money to spend in January and David Moyes has already been looking at possible targets, according to Bill Kenwright.

“We are talking about January and there will not be a lot of money compared to what other clubs are spending on centre forwards, but there will be money – there will be investment in January.”

Any ideas of who Moyes may go for?

If we are concentrating all our funds on a striker then we might have a reasonable chance of getting a decent striker. Not sure if we could get Rodallega for a decent fee (as he can leave Wigan for nothing in the Summer), but if Wigan want anymore than £5m or £6m I don't see that happening. That would leave us either getting an ageing player whose been there and done it, or an up and coming (maybe Championship player) young player for a few million. Don't have a clue who though!!

I also think we need a pacy wide player (Donovan type, but not necessarily him) and a utility defender (Onuoha?) as cover for centre half, or maybe even to go straight in as a right back. Obviously it depends whether the funds available will stretch that far.

look for someone whose contract is up at the end of the season - that is all we can afford

not sure why evryone wants "pace out wide" - Drenthe, Gueye, Coleman cover that.

Defensive cover IS needed though, especially on the left.

I put our prioroties as:

1 - Reliable, non-injury prone striker.

2 - Creative midfielder

3 - Defensive cover

4 - Back up keeper.

I know 1 and 2 are the most expensive types of players to buy so we will at best get one of them. Hopefully we can sell Mucha and Bily to generate a bit more cash

he said "not a lot of money compared to what other clubs have been spending on centre forwards". I'd like to think then that we should have at least £3m (he wouldn't bother saying funds are available if it was anything less than a million) and it sounds like a striker is top priority which is good. If we spent the money on a striker and Donovan for ten weeks then we could get a top half finish. Possibly top 8 if we win the easier games. Unfortunately the defence would still be leaky.

I wonder though: is this just because he's aware of a possible lucrative deal to sell Bily? Hopefully not and Bily's sale can add to these funds. I'm convinced Bily will leave now after what he said midweek.

Great news mate. Did it say whether this would be a net spend, and if not who is getting sold ?

Who do you think we will sell ?
