Like him as a player but at 28 he's about to sign his last big money contract so he's well out of our range. The reason we have a chance of Barry is his age and the fact he's passed his prime.

I could actually see him in the middle with McCarthy if Barry were to go elsewhere. He'd certainly give it that forward impetus we've been slightly missing.
He's entering the last year of his contract at City, perhaps they would be willing to loan him for the year if he's wanting out? Get at least some of his wages off the bill?

Has he got pace? Looks cumbersome to me. I think he is a moyes type signing with graft and determination but I don't see much else in him. I hate it when he plays for England and at Man City he might just look poor because of the players around him.
