Smashing logic.

Jagielka is obviously the only centre half available in the market. Its not like there is a better, younger, English centre half going for £15m cheaper than that down the road.....

£18-20m and jobs very much a good 'un. It'd be daylight robbery really.

And we'll survive relegation with or without him. Anywhere between 8th and 17th is pretty much a case of same difference anyway.

Don't you get like £9 million more for finishing 8th than 17th? I thought it was £1 million per league place.

And ffs lad why 8th? We finished 7th last year and no one below us has become better than us.

Arsene looked like he had just got done crying when he gave his interview after the game. I would not be surprised if his job is in trouble. He will be looking to splash some serious cash now. I love Jags, but if they want to pay silly money for him then i'm all for it. I know this is VERY shortsighted, but Jags has been a liability vs an asset in these first two games.

No, I meant if worst case scenario happened and we had the worst season imaginable, I still can't see us going down, with or without Jagielka. I can't see us grabbing a Europa League spot, so why not cash in a player inching into his 30's for stupid cash while we can and look to rebuild with the cash next summer.

Even if we finished 17th and took a £9m loss, which is the worst case scenario, we'd still cover the bank loans AND that loss of income by getting rid of Jags for £20m now.

And I don't think Jagielka is the difference between 8th and 17th anyway. I think we'll finish 10th with or without him.

His sale at the price talked of is a no brainer for me.

Arguably, only the ones above us have improved, heh.
Rich become richer, poor poorer. So much for financial fair play.

Though last year saw a bit of a crunch at the top, no really big gap between teams like what's normal in a season.
Considering jags, i'm thinking sell, to be honest. Terrible form. He'll probably lose the England place to Lescott, i'd wager.
And Moyes really, really has to ask him to stop the hoofing.

Your pessimistic, albeit increasingly justified, stance annoys me a bit but you're quite right.

I love Jags and we'd be weaker without him, but can we afford to turn down a big bid? I'm not so sure anymore.

I wouldn't just want to sell him to appease the bank though. I'd want someone to come in. Hopefully someone who can offer us something at the other end of the pitch.

For 20 mill it is a no brainer. And no offense to the lad, he is great, but not irreplaceable. Personally I would rather see us take the 20 mill and pay down the loans, freeing up credit for next season. Realism says we arent gonna get much out of this season so try and set ourselves up for making next season a good one.
