The number of Jaffa Cakes has been cut from 12 to 10 in the latest example of packaged food "shrinkflation".
The packs weigh 122 grams rather than 150 grams, but McVitie's has cut the recommended price from £1.15 to 99p.
Twin packs, which now have 20 cakes rather than 24, are now £1.89 rather than £2.19.
"These changes represent the same price per cake, however, pricing ultimately remains at the sole discretion of retailers," the firm said.
Tesco and Sainsbury were both selling a box of 10 for £1.
On online provider Ocado, the boxes were priced at £1.19.
A McVitie's spokesman added: "There is no change in the size, shape or weight of individual cakes in the McVitie's Jaffa Cake range."

I don't often eat them, because it's akin to showing a beer keg to a recovering alcoholic, but what really irritates me is the dishonesty shown by these big corporations. They repeatedly insult and treat the public like mugs. Castrol started filling their 5 litre oil containers with 4 litres - and then there's Toblerone. And don't get me started on wagon wheels....

It's as if the mantra of 'free market' absolves corporations of any semblance of honest, decent behaviour. If they have to, then put the price up, but to quietly diminish what they sell, after establishing an accepted quantity, should be illegal. Of course, that would require a government willing to represent and protect the public from the greedy corporations - that'll never happen.

Actual mars bars ,the regular version have somehow dwindled down to the old funsize bar... but have increased disproportionately in price.

I blame the EU
